ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES [EDPs] :
Entrepreneurship Development Programmes are being organized by the Institute as a regular training activities to cultivate the latent qualities of educated unemployed youth (both men and women) by enlightening them on various aspects that are necessary to be considered while setting up small scale industries and other service or business enterprises. Over the years, these programmes have created confidence in youth, which has led to self-employment and creation of further wage-employment.
These courses generally have
duration of 2 weeks. The process
and product oriented courses
such as food products, leather
products, herbal cosmetic, mobile
phone repair, computer hardware
maintainance, handycrafts, beauty-therapy
etc., have found to be useful
by the entrepreneurs. Applications
for admission into these training
programmes are invited through
Press Advertisements from time
to time.
Entrepreneurship Skill
Development Programme (ESDP)
This Institute is organizing
Entrepreneurship Skill Development
Programme (ESDP) on Fashion
Garments, Herbal cosmetics,
Information technology, Computer
Hardware& Maintenance, Soap
and Detergents etc. Duration
of this programme is 6 weeks.
Fees for General Candidates
is Rs. 200/-, Rs. 100/- from
women and physically handicapped
and no fees from SC/ST.
MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES [MDPs] :
With a view to enhance managerial
competence of the Managers and
Supervisors working in micro
& small enterprises as well
as educated unemployed youth
aspiring to become managers
of Micro & Small manufacturing/
business enterprises, the Institute
is conducting MDPs in various
fields such as Marketing Management,
Production Management, General
Enterprise Management, Retail
Management, Export Management
etc. These courses generally
have a duration of one week
for full time and two week for
part time.
VENDOR DEVELOPMENT
PROGRAMME [VDP] :
The Institute is also conducting
Vendor Development Programmes-cum-Exhibition
in association with the large
public/private sector industries
and Govt. Organisations in different
parts of the State. These programmes
provide a common platform for
interaction between buyers and
sellers, which in turn help
identification of new marketing
avenues for MSMEs and facilitate
the buyers in their search for
proper vendors.
CENTRAL GOVT. STORES PURCHASE PROGRAMME (CGSP) :
The Central Govt. Stores Purchase Programme which has been in operation since 1956, was modified in 1976 and came to be known as “Single Point Registration Scheme” of NSIC with a view to do away with multiplicity of registration with the individual purchase Organisation like DGS&D, Railways, Defence etc. The scheme aims at assisting the small scale industries in obtaining a fair share of the total purchase made by the government and its Departments including the public sector undertakings and State Govts. The main objective of this programme is that SSI unit will, in the process, be oriented to produce goods in conformity with the standard laid down by the buying agencies.
The unit registered with NSIC for participation in Govt. Purchase Programme derive the benefits like free supply of tender forms, exemption from payment of earnest money, security deposit etc.
TECHNOLOGY RESOURCE CENTRE [TRC] :
Technology needs to be continually
upgraded so that MSME units
remain competitive in the era
of globalization. But, where
to go for the right and authentic
information on available technologies?
The solution has now been provided
by the Min. of MSME-DI, Govt.
of India through Technology
Resource Centres set up in MSME-DI
all over India. TRC at MSME-DI,
Karnal is supported by small
enterprises network in order
to facilitate quick retrieval
and exchange of information
through internet.
TRAINING PROGRAMME ON PACKAGING FOR EXPORT :
Packaging plays a very important part in the present day marketing, specially in export marketing. The professional guidance in the field of packaging is expected to go a long way in improving the overall marketing of small industry products both in national and overseas market.
The Institute, therefore, organizes
training programmes on packaging
for export to acquaint MSMEs
units of the latest packaging
technique/standards. These programmes
are organized in association
with the Indian Institute of
Packaging, which provides the
necessary expertise in the matter.
MICRO & SMALL ENTERPRISES CLUSTER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME [MSECDP]:
O/o Development Commissioner (MSME), New Delhi has launched Small Industries Cluster Development Programme with a holistic approach. The objectives of the cluster development initiative are to improve competitiveness of the cluster through technology upgradation, facilitate development of new products, improved production process, improved quality of products, built on common brand, establish marketing linkage in domestic and international markets, formation of consortia, creation of common facility centers, enhance income of entrepreneurs and ultimately overall growth of the cluster.
Financial support for following purposes is available under the Programme :
Conducting diagnostic study of the cluster
Carrying out industries related R&D, if needed
Setting up new technology demonstration plant
Setting up of common facilities center, if required
Training of users
Seminars, Workshops, Study visits for quick dissemination of technology among the industries of the cluster.
PARTICIPATION OF O/O. THE DC (MSME) IN INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIRS/ EXHIBITIONS
The office of the Development Commissioner (MSME) is participating in various International Trade Fairs/Exhibitions.
With a view to increase participation
of representatives of participating
Micro & Small manufacturing
enterprises registered with
DI/DIC, the provision of MSME-MDA
Scheme are as under:
1. (i) the Govt. of India will reimburse the 75% of air fare by economy class (100% to SC/ST/Women Entrepreneurs & entrepreneurs from NE Region).
(ii) 50% subsidy on space rent (100% to SC/ST/Women Entrepreneurs & entrepreneurs
from NE Region).
(iii) The total subsidy on air fare and space rent will be restricted to Rs. 1.25 lakhs per unit.
(iv) Any unit can avail of this facility only once a year
(v) Only one person of the participating unit would be eligible for subsidy on airfare.
(vi) The offer is available on first come first served basis.
2. As per present SSI-MDA guidelines, the Micro & Small entrepreneurs of general category will now be required to pay 50 percent of rental charges for their booked space (if any, charged by fair organizer) and will also carry/manage their exhibits (to and fro) including customs clearance etc. However, women entrepreneurs & SC/ST entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs of NE Region need not to pay space rental charges at the time of booking of space (Minimum 06 sq. mtr.)
3. Small & Micro units
registered with DI/DIC engaged
in manufacturing are required
to pay the amount of 50% towards
space hiring charges by Demand

4. The representatives of the selected units will be reimbursed of the airfare as applicable after participation in Fair/Exhibition on the basis of submission of claim.
5. Participating MSME may please
be indicated whether they belongs
to SC/ST/Women or minority entrepreneur.
National Award
The Govt. of India has been implementing a scheme to give away three National Awards to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises for (1) Outstanding efforts in Entrepreneurship (2) Quality Products & (3) Research & Development Efforts. The details of these Awards alongwith its eligibility are given below:
1.(I) National Award for outstanding Entrepreneurship in Micro & Small Enterprises engaged in manufacturing:
1) First National Award: Rs. 1,00,000/- cash prize, a Trophy and a Certificate
2) Second National Award: Rs. 75,000/- cash prize, a Trophy and a Certificate
3) Third National Award: Rs. 50,000/- cash prize, a Trophy and a Certificate
4) Special National Award to outstanding Women Entrepreneur : Rs. 1,00,000/- cash prize,
a Trophy and a Certificate
5) Special National Award to outstanding SC/ST Entrepreneur : Rs. 1,00,000/- cash prize, a
Trophy and a Certificate.
6) Special National Award to outstanding Entrepreneur from NER including Sikkim :
Rs. 1,00,000/- cash prize, a trophy and a Certificate.
(II) National Award for outstanding Entrepreneurship in Micro & Small Enterprises rendering services.
1. First National Award: Rs. 1,00,000/- cash prize, a Trophy and a Certificate
2. Second National Award: Rs. 75,000/- cash prize, a Trophy and a Certificate
(III) National Award for outstanding Entrepreneurship in Medium Enterprises engaged in manufacturing.
1. First National Award: Rs. 1,00,000/- cash prize, a Trophy and a Certificate
2. Second National Award: Rs. 75,000/- cash prize, a Trophy and a Certificate
(IV) A Special Recognition Award to those MSMEs scoring marks above 80 percent and (50 percent in case of North Eastern Regions including Sikkim) will be given with a Cash Prize of Rs. 20,000/- each, a Certificate and a Trophy at the State Level Function to be organized by Director, MSME-DI.
Eligibility :
The Awards will be given for every calendar year to deserving entrepreneurs managing Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises having permanent registration/have filed Entrepreneurs Memorandum with the authorities notified by respective State Governments/UT Administration in accordance with the provisions contained in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (MSMED) Act 2006, which has since come into force from 2 October, 2006. The MSMEs should have been in continuous production during last four years.
2) National Awards for Quality Products in Micro & Small Enterprises (MSEs):
A scheme is being implemented for giving National Awards to the MSEs engaged in the production of quality products in certain selected product groups (selected every year on rotation) to bring in quality-consciousness and recognize this merit amongst MSEs. Under the scheme, there is a provision to honour entrepreneurs manufacturing products in each of the selected Product Group by giving National Award comprising of cash prize of Rs 1,00,000/-, a trophy and a certificate. Also A Special Recognition Award to those MSEs scoring marks above 80 percent and (50% in case of N.E. Region including Sikkim) will be given with a Cash prize of Rs. 20,000/- each, a Trophy and a Certificate at the State Level Function to be organized by Director, MSME-DI.
Eligibility
The Awards will be given for every calendar year to deserving entrepreneurs managing Micro and Small Enterprises having permanent registration/have filed Entrepreneurs Memorandum with the authorities notified by respective State Governments/UT Administration in accordance with the provisions contained in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (MSMED) Act 2006. The MSEs should have been in continuous production atleast during last four years. There will be no bar for an Awardee to be nominated or considered for Award for the same product/different product in the selected product group in subsequent year(s) even if he/she has earlier received an Award.
3) National Award for Research & Development Efforts in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
A scheme is being implemented for giving away National Awards to MSMEs to encourage and honour in-house Research & Development Efforts with the objective to promote the spirit of innovative vision and ambition for producing new products of greater utility adopting better techniques of quality production for higher societal relevance, through in house R&D effort.
The Awards will be of two categories, details of which are as under:
1. National Award for Research & Development Efforts in Micro & Small Enterprises:
(1) First National Award Rs. 1,00,000/- Cash Prize, a Certificate and a Trophy
(2) Second National Award Rs. 75,000/- Cash Prize, a Certificate and a Trophy
2. National Award for Research & Development Efforts in Medium Enterprises:
(1) First National Award Rs. 1,00,000/- Cash Prize, a Certificate and a Trophy
(2) Second National Award Rs. 75,000/- Cash Prize, a Certificate and a Trophy
3. A Special Recognition Award to those MSMEs scoring marks above 80 percent and (50% in case of North Eastern Region including Sikkim) will be given a Cash prize of Rs. 20,000/- each, a Certificate and a Trophy at the State Level Function to be organized by Director MSME-DI.
Eligibility:
