India's non-leather footwear industry will soon cross the $6 billion mark by 2024. Due to changing consumer preferences, 86 percent of footwear consumption has become non-leather by volume globally and India is witnessing a similar trend. The global footwear market size is valued at $ 365.5 Bn in 2020 and is estimated to reach $ 530.3 Bn by 2027 with a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 5.5 per cent from 2020 to 2027. Asia is the largest consumer of footwear globally with a share of 53.8 per cent followed by Europe and North America with shares of 15.2 per cent and 14.5 per cent respectively. In terms of the countries, China is the largest consumer of footwear with a world share of 18.4 per cent followed by India at 11.7 per cent and US at 10.7 per cent.

Keeping in view the importance of non-leather footwear sector, MSME-Development & Facilitation Office, Karnal, Ministry of MSME, Government of India is organizing a Vendor Development Programme-cum-Exhibition on non-leather footwear. The two days event will have exhibition stalls of selected Large buyers, footwear machinery manufacturers, foot wear material suppliers, technology providers and MSMEs involved in manufacturing of footwears and there will also be sessions on technology, quality-testing and government policies for footwear manufacturers. Large companies will show case their requirements and explain the registration process along with quality specifications for developing new vendors. The Govt. Departments like Govt.
